12 Week Ultrasound!

We had our ultrasound/tests this morning for the first trimester screening (we'll get the blood test results, etc back in about a week)! We were most excited to see the ultrasound though ;) The ultrasound was pretty long and baby was bouncing around and waving its arms and they gave us a whole CD of pics! We could see the heart beating and now I can't remember if it was 153 or 156 bpm but one of those ;) We could see lots of other stuff like baby's spine, nasal bone, head, and even its mouth opening and closing! We are 12 weeks according to the 7 week ultrasound we had back in September, but baby measured 12 weeks 4 days today. She said the due date will stay May 12th, 2014 since the measurements are within a week.

So fun to see baby actually looking like a baby and being so active ;)

And just a few notes from the 'grammas' from email conversations today:

from Mom: Heather was 6lbs 3oz, and Ashley was 7lbs 3 oz.

from Marla: Grant weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. and came 1 day before my due date. He cut it close!

Sharing our Baby News!

To share our baby news I found a graphic of three bikes online that we printed on tshirts. We wore our shirts over to the Stanleys and didn’t say anything – just waited to see if they would notice. Heather seemed to have caught on but didn’t say anything (later she said she knew right when we walked in the door). Eventually she said something like ‘where did you guys get those shirts?’ and we looked at each other and shrugged and smiled.  Then she asked Chris if he liked our shirts but he still didn’t seem to get it ;) lol … finally he caught on but we were careful not to say too much because Ella is a very good listener and we figured she might understand what we’re talking about and share the news before we were able to tell more people ;)  Heather texted later thinking they hadn’t acted excited enough ;) heheh .. and let us know that they were really pumped and would help with whatever and that we could borrow any of their baby things ;) Thanks guys we appreciate it (and I think you did seem excited ;)

This will be the first grand baby for the Schnells so we were curious to see their reaction when we told them.  Again we wore our shirts when we went into the Schnell's house.  Marla was the only one in the house and she didn't catch on to the shirts until Grant pointed them out and then she started crying! ;) she was excited ;) then we all went down to the shop and as soon as we walked in I could tell Clark noticed and almost said something but waited. Molly and Gary didn't notice so then Clark said something about 'what are you going to do with that third bike?' and then Molly got it ;) Gary's first comment was something like 'huh, maybe I'll actually be around for a grandkid!' and then there were lots of congrats and then Marla and Gary kept repeating they were going to be grandparents ;) hehehe

We continued on to my parent's house. Mom was in the house so we went in there first. After a little bit she said 'why do you guys have matching shirts?' ... and then you could see she got it ... then with wide eyes and her voice getting louder she was like 'Ashley are YOU GOING TO HAVE A BABY RIDE THAT LITTLE BIKE???!!' Dad came in and Mom asked if he saw our shirts and as soon as he looked he got it and told us congratulations ;) It was fun to tell everyone ;)

Road Trip to Montana!

Packed up and ready to go! My 10 week pregnant self was feeling slightly nauseous so I did a lot of sleeping while poor Grant did a lot of driving! The first night we slept in the Vibe at a rest stop and I think I had to get up to go to the bathroom approximately 5,000 times. ;)

Made it to the Johnson's in Bozeman! Getting ready to go biking.

Group photo on our ride at Leverich Canyon. It was pretty and it was also pretty steep! Me and Baby Schnell did a lot of walking our bike up the mountain ;) whew!

So fun to see our friends in their new home!

When the Johnson's had to go to work on Monday we continued on with our trip and drove towards Lolo Pass with a stop in Missoula

Going for a little walk at Lolo Pass

Checking out Blodgett Canyon - that's Leidy on the trail waiting for us - she loves road trips and hiking!

Selfie at an overlook

So pretty!

Then we camped in Blodgett campground - coolest free campsite we've been at yet!

Bouldering at the campsite

Going for a hike the next day from the campground.

What a pretty day!

My hiking buddies!

Horsehead Arch

We stopped for a little nap before turning around to go back (that's a long ways to hike while pregnant ;)  For me anyways!

The next day we packed up and continued south. We stopped for a little mountain bike ride on the west shoreline of Como Lake.

That's me!

On the road again going south on 93 - Grant's famous line when we're going anywhere is: 'I'll have to take a look at the map'  So then we stop and look at the map ;)

Driving through the Big Hole Divide

Virginia City

Stopping to read the names of the peaks before driving in to Ennis.

A nice free campsite in Ennis!

Breakfast in Ennis the next day. We may have gone out to eat a lot more than usual on this trip because the oatmeal/granola bars/sandwiches/camp food just wasn't appealing to my occasional morning sickness ;)

Biking around by the campsite.

Driving back to Bozeman, we stopped in Yellowstone to go on a little walk and saw this bear print! Yikes!

After that sighting our hike didn't last very long ;)  We looked at the creek and mostly headed back to the car to continue on the drive!

Back in Bozeman on our way to do a little hike in the Bridgers!

It was a pretty bumpy ride up to the trailhead which made for a lot of braxton hicks contractions and some sickness for me. There was also a LOT more snow than what we were prepared to hike in (we didn't exactly bring along very much snow gear). So, I didn't make it very far and the two of us and Leidy turned around. We actually walked down the road quite a ways until the Johnsons picked us up to try to minimize the bumping on the way down ;)

A pretty walk down

Out for pizza in Bozeman! Thank you so much for the hospitality - it was so great to see you two and check out your new home and surroundings - it's beautiful! Can't wait for our next visit :)

9 Weeks!

Since we found out we were expecting I started keeping some notes in an app on my phone.  Apparently that was a bad idea - at least with that particular app. My phone died so I had to get a new one and I thought since I had logged in to that app that it would have all my notes when I logged back in ... but that wasn't the case :( ... and then I called Grant and cried ... :( all of the little symptoms I had felt and when I felt them, etc was all gone! Nooooo! Luckily, some of the stuff I had emailed to people once we started announcing the news so I could search through my email to find a few things.  But, I was still really sad... maybe also due to the hormones ;)  So anyways - a lot of this is what I can remember or found in emails, etc.

But, today was our 9 week appointment!  It was just with a nurse and she went over a bunch of info so not that exciting - but still 9 weeks!

The nausea still continues and I remember a couple days at work specifically that I thought I was going to throw up for sure. One day I spent quite a bit of time on the bathroom floor at work ;) Gross, I know. Often when I would get home I was just exhausted. I would think of a list of things I was going to get done when I got home but then in reality I would get home and have to just lay on the couch. Many nights I was in bed by around 8pm early on in the pregnancy.

We started taking some belly pics to mark the 9 week point!

The Animals Seem to Enjoy my Sickness ;)

All of my lounging on the couch when I feel sick seems to be going over well with our animals ;) We're all getting some extra snuggle time in!  Junebug claimed my lap ...
